
Last night some of us were lucky enough to witness the inaugral performance of some witty yet profound fairytale magic in the beautiful Burrinja Cultural Centre. written and performed entirely by our friend, Reilly, how she managed such an entertaining monologue for a whole hour is beyond my imagination. Our Bardic Groves have just gone up a huge notch! Thank-you Reilly, and Happy Birthday, Ben.

[...] Last January I saw Meow Meow’s The Little Match Girl at the Famous Spiegeltent during the Sydney Festival. It inspired me to write my own fairytale retelling multimedia performance, Sleeping Kingdom, Waking Beauty, which I then toured interstate. What a fabulous experience! The show was launched at the Burrinja Cultural Centre in the Dandenong Ranges, where I grew up, in the company of family and friends, including some special Druids (who are like family and friends all rolled into one : ) Then toured to Mansfield, where a very generous crowd (led by local radio presenter Tony Cox) invited me back for a second performance; both were warm and receptive audiences. It then enjoyed a short season at The Butterfly Club in Melbourne, before heading home to Sydney where it played at The Joan in Penrith, followed by two performances at Mars Hill CafĂ© for the Sydney Fringe Festival.
